What to Expect at Odooma
Beginning psychiatric care can feel unfamiliar. At Odooma Psychiatry & Wellness, our goal is to make the process clear, comfortable, and collaborative. From your first appointment through ongoing care, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns, ask questions, and participate in decisions about your treatment.
01
Before Your First Appointment
Before your appointment, you may be asked to complete intake forms and provide information about your medical and psychiatric history, current medications, pharmacy, insurance or payment information, and any relevant previous treatment or records.
Having this information available helps us better understand your needs and make the most of your appointment.
02
Your Initial Psychiatric Evaluation
Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We will take time to understand what brings you to care and discuss areas such as your current symptoms and concerns, psychiatric and medical history, medications, sleep, daily functioning, relevant family and social history, and your treatment goals.
This visit is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and discuss what matters most to you. Recommendations are based on the evaluation and your individual needs. An initial evaluation does not automatically mean that medication will be prescribed.
03
Creating Your Treatment Plan
Following your evaluation, we will discuss recommendations and work together to develop an individualized treatment plan.
Depending on your needs, recommendations may include medication management, ongoing monitoring, supportive lifestyle strategies, psychotherapy or other referrals, and coordination with other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
04
Follow-Up Appointments
Follow-up visits allow us to monitor your progress, discuss changes in symptoms or concerns, evaluate medication effectiveness and possible side effects, and adjust your treatment plan when appropriate.
Your care may evolve over time as your needs and goals change.
Telehealth Appointments
Telepsychiatry appointments are available for eligible adolescents and adults located in Georgia. Virtual appointments provide convenient access to psychiatric care through secure video visits.
For telehealth appointments, please plan to be in a private location with a reliable internet connection and remain physically located in Georgia for the duration of your appointment.
For Adolescent Patients
Care for adolescents is developmentally informed and considers the young person’s individual needs as well as relevant family, school, relationships, and daily functioning.
Parents or guardians may be involved in care as appropriate while respecting developmentally appropriate privacy and confidentiality within applicable legal and safety requirements.
Preparing for Your Appointment
To help you prepare, please have your current medication list and pharmacy information available and make note of any symptoms, changes, questions, or concerns you would like to discuss. For virtual appointments, please choose a quiet and private location with a reliable internet connection.
